About The Position

The Press Cell Operator will serve our Water Heating Division, located in Montgomery, AL. Responsibilities Must be able to properly use tools and equipment (including but not limited to die cart, control panel, Quick Die Changeover tooling and molding changeovers) to set-up, remove, and set dies in power presses and transfer dies to and from the die rack. Must be able to follow written work instructions to ensure the proper parameters are entered during die set-up. Must be able to operate any power driven press, located within the department, to punch, trim, and form or perform other shaping or fabricating operations on metal weighing in excess of 25 pounds by subjecting the metal to pressure between dies or punches. Must record part dimensional data into DAS computer based system or on the proper CF form. Must be able to use various measurement tools, too conduct a First Part Approval (FPA) on the output part to ensure that the part meets the design specification or deviation limits. This will include but is not limited to vernier caliper, height gage, go-no gage, tape measure. Must be able to make adjustments to molding if needed. Responsible for monitoring die equipment for proper function and ensuring work orders are submitted to maintenance and/or the tool room as required. Confer with supervision or engineers to resolve machine malfunctions, production errors, and to obtain approval to continue production. Maintain good housekeeping in work area. Work from blueprints, written or verbal orders/work instructions. Inspect units or parts for defects and workmanship. Observe all departmental safety requirements. Practice and support Rheem values with internal as well as external customers. May be exposed to high noise levels, heat, duct and airborne particles. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Lift Truck Permit
  • Self directed, requiring minimal supervision
  • Team oriented
  • Candidate must promote Rheem Values of Integrity, Teamwork and Business Ethics
  • Continuous lifting of 25-60 lbs; Frequent lifting of 60+ lbs
  • Must be able to stand, walk and/or lift repetitively during shift
  • Must be able to frequently lift in unsupported positions as well as bend, twist/turn, reach, push/pull
  • May be exposed to high noise levels, heat, dust and airborne particles
  • Must have vision skills acceptable for a lift truck license and the motor skills/climbing ability to safety board/operate the equipment
  • Complete Press Operator Training Course (Press Operator/Die Setter)
