About The Position

The position involves selecting, cutting, and returning steel to stock while ensuring accuracy and safety in all operations. The worker will operate machinery, including cranes and forklifts, and must adhere to safety protocols at all times. The role requires physical strength and the ability to perform heavy lifting and other physical tasks as part of the job function.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift, push, and pull 50lbs frequently.
• Must be able to climb ladders to search for material and hook up crane.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance on Press Brake and associated equipment.
• Keeps work area clean and ensures needed repairs are made promptly.
• Obeys all safety rules and performs all tasks safely.

Responsibilities

• Selects steel using caution to avoid damage.
• Verifies correct size of material using tape measure and calipers.
• Confirms composition and/or thickness of material using color code.
• Directs crane operator regarding the proper material to be brought to the Press Brake.
• Operates gantry crane/crane/forklift as needed.
• Sets up and verifies accuracy of machine settings for tolerances.
• Cuts steel by assisting crane operator and positioning steel accurately.
• Marks material for shipment accurately.
• Returns steel to stock, marking drops with identifying numbers.
• Places drops in correct location while avoiding damage.
• Lifts, pushes, and pulls 50lbs frequently for shipment storage.
• Cleans and polices assigned work areas.
• Performs other duties assigned by the foreman.
