About The Position

Heartland Label Printers is a printing company specializing in pressure sensitive labels. We have had continuous growth since 1990, by serving the transportation, grocery and pharmaceutical industries along with many other markets. We have almost 200 people on our team between our Little Chute, WI, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Windham, ME locations. Check out what we have to offer! HOURS Friday – Sunday, 3:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. POSITION SUMMARY The Press Assistant is responsible for assisting the Press Operators and Die Cutter Operators in setting up and operating a printing machine to produced print on label rolls as well as being able to operate a press or die cutter with basic blank or simple color products safely and effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous flexographic printing experience
  • Technical Certification or Associates Degree in printing processes
  • Working knowledge of the use of a PC and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Understand and support the company’s Core Values
  • Examine job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications, and anilox BCM.
  • Select and install printing plates, rollers, feed guides, gauges, screens, stencils, dies, and cylinders in machines according specifications, using hand tools.
  • Operate presses or die cutters, turret machines, and fanfolders in the absence of an operator
  • Reposition printing plates, adjust pressure rolls, or otherwise adjust machines to improve print quality, using knobs, hand wheels, or hand tools
  • Set and adjust speed, ink flow, and positions and pressure tolerances of equipment
  • Load, position, and adjust materials on holding fixtures or in equipment loading and feeding mechanisms
  • Blend, manage, mix, store, and maintain inks according to types of material being printed and work order specifications
  • Pour ink, color compounds, and other materials into in pans, making measurements and adjustments to control color and viscosity
  • Test inks for pH and viscosity according to manufacturer’s specifications
  • Clean and lubricate printing machines and components, using oil, solvents, brushes, rags, and hoses
  • Pack and label cartons, boxes, or bins of finished products
  • Other duties, as assigned.
