As a Press Assistant Trainee, you will assist a team of press operators to ensure quick and efficient make-readies for multicolor flexographic printing presses. This role involves assisting with the setup, repair, operation, and maintenance of the press, ensuring that production runs smoothly and efficiently. In this position, you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, maintaining, and operating a flexographic press in the absence of an operator. You will review job tickets and select the proper type and quantity of material needed for production. Additionally, you will assist in material changeovers, ensuring that the correct materials are present and organized for production runs. Your role will also include cleaning, lubricating, and making minor adjustments to maintain the quality of production, as well as cleaning and maintaining press equipment such as pans, pumps, and anilox rolls. You will be expected to notify supervision of needed repairs or replacement parts, move loads of finished and unfinished stock when necessary, and assist the press operator with preventative maintenance of the press. Compliance with established safety procedures and policies is crucial, as is following established standard operating procedures and completing required documentation. You will also be involved in assembling cylinders and gears, performing line clearance, and removing waste from the press area. Collaboration with other departments and maintenance personnel on projects and validations will be part of your responsibilities, along with performing other job duties as assigned.
