About The Position

Develops and implements the medical center's long-term strategic direction and ensures consistency with the overall mission and direction of the patient service market, market group and Aurora. Oversee all operations and ensure the effective utilization of physical and financial resources. Maintains financial stability by promoting services produced in a cost-effective manner. Collaborates with finance leadership within the market group to develop, recommend and implement the annual operation plans and programs necessary to meet the strategic direction established by the organization. Effectively implements care management and patient experience initiatives to ensure the highest possible delivery of service to patients, families, physicians, and employees relative to their personal expectations. Serves as a member of the patient service market leadership team to establish plans to drive performance of all management throughout the patient service market and market group. Collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that the physicians and other providers rendering professional services provide the best possible care for patients. Collaborates cohesively with physician groups, community leaders and entity and market group staff. In conjunction with physician leadership, maintains a high-quality medical staff and appropriate administrative relations at the medical center to help meet the community needs for high quality medical care. Oversees and ensures compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies. Reviews, evaluates, and enforces existing policies and procedures. Formulates, establishes, and enforces additional procedures, rules, and regulations in all departments as necessary to provide for the proper admission, care, safety, and discharge of patients. Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale. Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives. Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business. Responsible for taking an active leadership role in non-profit or community-based organizations by providing community service hours or serving in professional organizations. Also, encourages team members to participate in these same community activities. Designs and directs the work of the assigned area(s) of responsibility. Selects, coaches, and develops teams, setting objectives that align with organizational strategy to inspire and motivate the teams. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved. Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives. Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that people actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.

Requirements

  • None
  • Master's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Health Care Administration or related field.
  • Typically requires 10 years of management experience in health care administration which includes experience as a chief executive officer or chief operating officer in a progressive acute care facility overseeing operations, developing medical center strategies, and formulating organization-wide policy.
  • Skills and expertise in developing and implementing short- and long-term strategies and creating a system for efficient, effective delivery of medical services.
  • Expert level knowledge of the health care industry to successfully manage patient care, serve as a liaison between medical staff, department heads and governing boards.
  • Demonstrated operational excellence in a tertiary setting and a proven commitment to excellent patient service.
  • Skills in assessing risk using financial, statistical, and economic data.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating closely with physicians and physician groups in a manner that fosters physician satisfaction, close working relationships and loyalty.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills to organize, plan and lead the development of long-range planning
