About The Position

The President of the Railway Supply Institute (RSI) is a senior leadership role responsible for strategic direction, program planning, member services, industry advocacy, and financial management. This position serves as the chief staff executive, working closely with the Board of Directors to achieve the organization's mission and objectives while representing the interests of railway suppliers in North America. The President will lead a matrixed team, engage with key stakeholders, and ensure the effective delivery of services to members.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience as a senior-level executive, COO, or Chief of Staff.
  • Experience in a volunteer-led organization or association management.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, legislative, and policy-making environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in expanding an organization's membership and core assets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in government relations and industry-specific advocacy.
  • Knowledge of financial planning and budget management.
  • Ability to shape and implement strategic plans.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the external face of the industry and build strategic relationships with stakeholders.
  • Advise and support the RSI Board of Directors in executing long-term strategies and annual goals.
  • Plan, direct, monitor, and analyze association finances to achieve financial objectives.
  • Provide governance support and leadership expertise to the Board of Directors and committees.
  • Oversee ongoing association operations and optimize program performance against goals.
  • Manage a comprehensive government relations and advocacy program to promote industry interests.
  • Facilitate positive relationships between Smithbucklin staff and RSI constituents.
  • Manage and motivate a matrix staff team of approximately 15 individuals.
  • Oversee development and marketing of programs and services to grow the association.
  • Ensure consistent internal and external messaging on industry issues.
