About The Position

Responsibilities

  • Participate in prescribed fire assignments and wildland fire operations.
  • Prepare fire lines and maintain equipment.
  • Conduct post-burn monitoring and other land stewardship activities.
  • Perform preserve management duties when conditions are not conducive to prescribed fire.
  • Lead and mentor team members while following direction from supervisors.
  • Teach courses related to fire operations and safety.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the professional fire community and local communities.
  • Coordinate tasks with local Nature Conservancy and USDA Forest Service Fire Management staff.
  • Ensure safe work practices and evaluate inputs in a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Assist with all aspects of prescribed burning, including overseeing staff and volunteers.
  • Operate ATVs, UTVs, tractors, chain saws, and leaf blowers, and tow trailers.
  • Maintain accurate records of work time and expenses, and submit reports in a timely manner.
