About The Position

The Preschool Teaching Assistant at Kamehameha Schools plays a vital role in supporting the instructional team to enhance student learning in a Hawaiian culture-based education environment. Requirements

• Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or equivalent qualifications.
• Minimum of 6 months of related work experience.
• Valid Hawaii Driver's License or ability to acquire one within 2 months of hire.
• Good interpersonal skills with children and adults.
• Ability to organize a high volume of varied work activities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to become certified in Community First Aid and Pediatric CPR.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education.
• Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, Hawaiian culture.
• Community First Aid and Pediatric CPR certified.
• Department of Health, Food Handler's Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily classroom instruction, including individual and group interactions with students.
• Supervise student behavior independently and under teacher direction.
• Provide program support through snack menu planning and maintaining attendance records.
• Prepare a safe and healthy indoor and outdoor classroom environment.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues, teaching team, and families.
• Participate in required professional development and training.
• Substitute for the teacher when the teacher is absent.
