About The Position

Duck's Nest Preschool is seeking an experienced Preschool Teacher to join our family-owned early childhood education center in Berkeley, CA. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching young children and committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. This role involves planning and implementing curriculum, leading activities, and fostering positive relationships with children and parents.

Requirements

• Passion for teaching young children
• Ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
• Vaccination record for Pertussis, Measles, Covid, TB (Required)

Responsibilities

• Create a positive learning environment for children
• Promote and scaffold children's exploration and learning through play
• Develop and implement curriculum around children's interests
• Manage the class as a group while giving individual attention
• Observe and mediate conflicts and problem-solving using positive guidance
• Utilize Anti-Bias approach to support children's identity development
• Create documentation demonstrating the process and evolution of curriculum and learning
• Integrate nature in teaching by taking care of plants and animals with children
• Establish trusting relationship with parents and communicate details of a child's development
• Provide a safe environment and supervision at all times
• Follow procedures when handling and reporting a child's incident/accident
• Collaborate with team members by participating in weekly team meeting, partaking classroom routine tasks, and maintaining constructive communication
• Participate in monthly staff meeting and scheduled professional development trainings
