About The Position

CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. Provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low income children, ages 0-3 years, and their families in educationally-stimulating learning environments. OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY The Preschool Teacher is responsible to promote school readiness by preparing children and families for school success and life success as it relates to this position. To provide high quality developmentally appropriate care and education for children aged 3-5 in a center-based classroom in the CPLC ECD Colorado Program. Work as part of a center based inter-disciplinary team to support the child in all areas of development while providing education, disabilities, health and social service support to families. Abide by all state and federal regulations that apply to care and education of young children including the revised Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS), Head Start Act, Colorado Department of Early Childhood, Office of Head Start Initiatives and ECD Content Area Plans and Procedures. Actively supervise children by sight and sound at all times and in all environments. Maintain all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment. Facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor and indoor environments.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education
  • A Bachelor's degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (ECE) or coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education in a related field
  • Six-month experience in teaching preschool aged children
  • Applicant must have basic keyboard skills and be able to use computer, computer software programs (e.g. Microsoft Office, Adobe) and web-based systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate or advanced major in ECE or a related degree to early childhood education and experience teaching preschool age children.
  • Internal Candidate with AA in ECE or a related degree to early childhood education and experience teaching preschool age children.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English (Preferred)
  • Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) screening, implementing Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers (PITC), Center on Social & Emotional Foundation Early Learning Center (CSEFEL), Pyramid Model, Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scales (ITERS), and Toddler Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) (Preferred)
  • Experience working with culturally diverse and low-income families (Preferred)
