About The Position

St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison is seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join their early childhood education program. The ideal candidate is committed to providing high-quality educational experiences for preschool-aged children and fostering a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This role supports children ages 3–5 years old and focuses on promoting social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through thoughtful lesson planning and play-based learning aligned with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards. The Preschool Teacher will collaborate closely with families and team members, demonstrate strong communication and organization skills, and bring a genuine enthusiasm for early childhood education. The position works under the supervision of the Director and is responsible for the supervision of an assigned group of children to ensure their health and safety, and to develop a well-balanced daily schedule and age-appropriate lesson plans, including activities to stimulate social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working with preschool-aged children
  • Strong child development knowledge for ages 3–5
  • Ability to create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans
  • Familiarity with Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • One year experience
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA) (for Wisconsin)
  • Childhood Care and Education Certificate of Achievement Level 3 - The Wisconsin Registry (for Wisconsin)

  • Wisconsin Registry Certificate Level 3 or higher

Responsibilities

  • Creates opportunities for enhancing student skills.
  • Plans and implements activities that are consistent with student abilities, interests and educational plans.
  • Assists with school inclusion, inclusion in alternate school settings, the development of appropriate curriculum, workshop/life skills, speech and language, art, music, and adaptive physical education.
  • Provides staff in-services.
  • Maintains data and other records complying with all state, federal, department, and organization regulations
  • Displays enthusiasm and appropriate energy level to maintain students motivation, cooperation, and participation.
  • Encourages student independence in communication, decision making and other activities.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
