About The Position

POSITION PURPOSE: Educate and engage preschool age children in the classroom. DIRECT REPORT: Head of Preschool POSITION OUTCOMES/EXPECTATIONS: Professionalism: Is ethical, uses good judgment, and maintains confidentiality with student information Is a positive team member and contributes ideas, expertise, and time to the overall mission of the school – is receptive to feedback from colleagues Involved in the professional learning community standards (PLC) Planning and Organization: Has an understanding of child development and age appropriate standards Cooperates with all in-school systems of organization (i.e. lesson plan formats, monthly calendars, communication to parents etc.) Is punctual and reliable with paperwork, duties, and assignments - keeps accurate records Attends all required meetings (faculty, CPA in-services, etc.), as required by the Preschool Director Classroom Management Clearly communicates and consistently enforces high standards for children Is fair and respectful toward children and builds positive relationships Maximizes academic learning time by minimizing disruptions and interruptions and helping maintain the momentum of a lesson Consistently enforces preschool rules and uses classroom management and discipline techniques that are developmentally appropriate and approved by the Preschool Director Demonstrates professional demeanor and maintains appropriate boundaries Maintains behavioral control of students in the classroom Ensures the safety of each child- never leaves students unattended Delivery of Instruction Facilitates the following: Activating students’ prior knowledge and hooking their interest Creates innovative, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lesson plans, and utilizes Atlas if applicable Using clear expectations, appropriate language, and good examples to present material Engaging students in focused work in which they are active learners and problem-solvers Utilizing instructional time well Incorporating the appropriate use of technology to foster student learning Monitoring, Assessment, and Follow-Up Facilitates the following: Frequently checks for understanding and giving children helpful feedback Takes responsibility for students who are not succeeding and gives extra help and attention

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field required
  • At least three years of working with preschool-aged children
  • An understanding of appropriate teaching practices with preschoolers
  • Works independently with little direct supervision
  • Works effectively as part of a team
  • Accepts responsibility and is self-motivated
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic
  • Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Welcoming, inviting, even-tempered and adaptable
  • Knows the developmental milestones and standards for preschool age children
  • Communicates clearly and frequently with parents in a manner that fosters cooperation on behalf of the child
  • Commits to performing his/her duties in accordance with the stated mission, purpose, and core values of the school, CPA Policies and Procedures Manual, CPA 101, and the Westminster Confession of Faith.
  • All employees must be evangelical Christians and active members of an evangelical Christian church.
