About The Position

The YMCA is seeking a caring, energetic Preschool Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. This role supports the YMCA's mission by helping children grow socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively through play-based learning. Schedule: Monday - Friday, no weekends Pay: $18/hr

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement (or be enrolled in an approved Early Childhood program with a completion date within two years of hire).
• Minimum of two years prior experience working in licensed child care programs or community school districts.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Must be able to pass State of IA required background check
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification
• Mandatory Reporter
• Must obtain a minimum of 10 hours training annually according to DHS requirements
• Note: If not currently certified, must obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to obtain required certifications, pass a state mandated background check and able to complete state required trainings for child care workers.

• Plan and lead age-appropriate classroom activities
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
• Supervise and engage children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
• Observe, assess, and document children's progress
• Build positive relationships with children and families
• Follow state licensing and YMCA childcare standards
