About The Position

This position serves as a Preschool Teacher - Pre-K Counts Certified for a Pre-K Counts Head Start classroom with a direct focus on children 3 to 5 years of age. The Pre-K Counts Certified Teacher will work collaboratively with one other teacher to ensure the operation of a classroom with a maximum of 20 children. The Certified Teacher also works with a team of other classroom teachers and family members to implement curriculum and child assessment to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities. Requirements

  • State Preschool Certification required from Pennsylvania.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
  • Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
  • Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Plans written curriculum that encompass goals for children’s development and learning.
  • Creates the materials needed to support the implementation of the curriculum.
  • Prepares daily lesson plans tailored to children’s needs and interests.
  • Develops individual plans for each child including goal setting based on identified needs.
  • Implements program curriculum that provides developmentally and linguistically appropriate experiences.
  • Provides experiential learning activities that advance the intellectual and emotional competence of preschool children.
  • Provides a print-rich environment for children to develop literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Offers positive guidance and discipline to support children as they acquire readiness skills.
  • Develops individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities.
  • Provides children with a consistent classroom routine.
  • Provides supervision and ensures the safety and security of children at all times.
  • Supervises and eats nutritionally prepared meals with the children.
  • Supervises all classroom field trips and outdoor activities.
  • Operates with understanding of regulations associated with prevention of occupational disease and injury.
  • Encourages parent participation in staff-parent conferences and home visits.
