About The Position

The Preschool Teacher Assistant supports Preschool Teachers in the Arkansas Children’s Child Enrichment Center by assisting with the daily care, supervision, and development of children. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while supporting classroom routines, activities, and health and safety standards. The Teacher Assistant works collaboratively with Preschool Teachers to promote children’s physical, emotional, social, and developmental growth. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; or currently enrolled as a high school ljunior or senior in an early education/child development Career and Technical Program
  • Heartsaver AED - AHA - American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in or completion of early childhood education coursework or a Child Development Associate (CDA) program.
  • Related Field - 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist Preschool Teachers with the supervision and care of children to ensure their safety, well-being, and developmental needs are met.
  • Support the implementation of age-appropriate classroom activities, routines, and learning experiences under the direction of the Preschool Teacher.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom and play environment.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, transitions, and mealtimes.
  • Assist children with personal care needs, including diapering, toileting, and handwashing, in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare, serve, and clean up meals and snacks following dietary guidelines and individual child requirements.
  • Provide positive interactions, encouragement, and emotional support to children to foster a nurturing environment.
  • Communicate relevant observations or concerns to the Preschool Teacher and Child Enrichment Center leadership.
  • Assist with classroom documentation, attendance, and daily activity support as needed.
  • Adhere to all applicable child care regulations, policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
