Boys and Girls Club needs an experienced, community-driven dual Director and Pre-K Teacher for children aged 3-5 at our new Fernley Early Learning Center located on 695 East Main Street! At our new location, you’ll have the opportunity to create a center from the ground up, inspired by GREAT values: Generosity, Respect, Encouragement, Accountability, and Trustworthiness. The Early Learning Centers are committed to practicing those values to create places where every child feels safe and connected--a place to belong and a place to become--and a community organization where you can be sure you’re making a difference. Currently, this location will be a one classroom location, so this role will start as both the director and the sole teacher, but with the goal of expanding into a full center in the future. This position is an hourly, benefits-eligible position, working 7-1 or 8-2 Monday through Friday (30 hours per week). Preference will be given to applicants with management experience that would be capable of remaining in the Director seat when a full center is ready to open, but we may hire an applicant without management experience. In the event that we hire an applicant without the management experience or skills, the decision may be made at a future date to move this person to a Pre-K Teacher at the same rate when the full center is opened. You will have the opportunity to focus on children by: planning and leading academic and social-emotional activities in a 10:1 class, and engaging with student families. These are some of the additional things you will do as a Teacher with our early learning centers: Prepare supplies and materials for lessons and exercises. Manage student portfolios. Maintain the safety of our children and staff, and ensure an optimal experience for all. When we are ready to expand, this position will also: Ensure that all direct reports are trained in all policies and procedures required for licensure and QRIS quality control. Interview and select candidates. Manage all administration of direct reports, including timecards, PTO requests, and performance. Provide oversight to staff regarding appropriate and positive discipline measures, consistent with Conscious Discipline. Coach and motivate direct reports to support employee engagement and retention efforts, and to increase student learning. Address all staff conflicts, seeking assistance from admin or HR as needed. Develop curriculum and programs in accordance with the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows guidelines, ELC guidelines, and the State of Nevada requirements. Ensure that records are maintained in accordance with state requirements. Staff classrooms as needed. Plan and direct monthly staff meetings. Prepare and manage the site budget. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with community partners, staff members, and parents by consistently demonstrating GREAT values.
