About The Position
St. James Catholic School is hiring a full-time, Preschool Teacher Aide. Candidates must be positive, gentle, caring, and loves working with children 2 to 3 years of age. Creativity, organizational skills, and passion for a Montessori-inspired education are paramount! St. James is located in the heart of Stratford's Historic District, and is a fully accredited elementary and middle school with over 75 years of educating children. St. James is a warm and caring community with a mission that includes "nurturing the whole child". Our school provides a rich, academic experience from preschool through eighth grade.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Active member of a faith community and is open to the importance of personal faith journey; strives to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example
- Passion for working with children 2 to 3 years of age!
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Classroom experience teaching or assisting in a preschool classroom
- A Montessori credential or experience teaching in a Montessori environment
Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Preschool Teacher in promoting a classroom environment that is safe, caring, and nurturing
- Effectively manage and supervise of 2-3 year olds using age-appropriate strategies
- Clean materials and supplies as needed and assist with preparing for nap time
- Follow curricula and lesson guidelines as determined by the lead teacher
- Assist in other duties as deemed necessary by the lead teacher and/or principal
