About The Position

The Preschool Teacher Aide will assist the Preschool Teacher in preparing children for elementary school by developing their vocabulary, social skills, behavior and will effectively create and deliver academic preschool curriculum.

Requirements

  • Complete required ASYMCA safety trainings
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Maintain a valid child abuse history clearance.
  • Successfully complete the State Police Criminal Record Check and F.B.I. fingerprints screening. Results are required at time of hire.
  • 1-2 years experience working with pre-school aged children and related education required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and parents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to identify and deal with carious child care situations. Must be able to resolve conflicts effectievly in a professional and positive manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Profiecient in writing reports and lesson planning.
  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supporting the planning and conducting an effective child development program to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child based upon stated goals and a curriculum plan.
  • Follows implemented daily schedule and activity plans. Assists in arranging room play and materials to accommodate the daily schedule. Assists in setting up displays and bulletin boards.
  • May assist in accurately document attendance, absentees, and current emergency records for each child.
  • Creates a pleasant, inviting atmosphere for children. Ensures the safety and sanitation of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, etc.
  • Completes and submits required reports such as: incident reports, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings as requested and be prepared to coordinate, research, and share resources with other facilitators.
  • Assists in appropriate play and learning activities to foster individual and group activity development. Leads children in songs, games, finger plays and other activities.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of program information.
