About The Position

A Preschool Youth Development Professional works directly with preschool-aged children (ages 3-5) in a licensed program setting, providing structured, engaging experiences that support early childhood development. This role requires a balance of child-centered learning, social-emotional development, and play-based activities that prepare children for future academic and personal success. The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, and skilled in guiding preschoolers through age-appropriate learning experiences and daily routines while fostering a safe and nurturing environment.

Requirements

  • Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3-5) in a childcare, educational, or recreational setting.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging young children and collaborating with families.
  • Ability to implement structured routines and age-appropriate learning activities.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 12 college credit hours (or currently enrolled, working toward this requirement).
  • Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma; some college preferred.
  • Must pass National Background Check.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured and unstructured activities designed to support preschoolers’ social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Supervise and engage preschool-aged children in creative play, group activities, and interactive learning experiences.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment using positive behavior guidance strategies.
  • Assist in daily transitions, snack time, hygiene tasks, and routines to support preschoolers’ self-care and independence.
  • Build meaningful relationships with children and families, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive experience.
  • Communicate professionally with families, staff, and children.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements for preschool-age programming.
  • Provide occasional coverage at other sites to maintain staff-to-child ratios as needed.
