Preschool Substitute Teacher
About The Position
This is an on-call, as-needed position for a Substitute Teacher at Guidepost Montessori, ideal for individuals seeking flexible hours while making a positive impact on young children. The role involves supporting multiple mixed-age Montessori classrooms serving children ages 0–6, helping maintain a calm, engaging, and nurturing learning environment. Guidepost Montessori provides training as part of orientation and onboarding, and no formal Montessori training is required. Many substitute teachers have the opportunity to become full-time Assistant Teachers.
Requirements
- Negative TB test within the last 12 months
- Valid state background check
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Warm, friendly, and dependable demeanor
- Passion for working with young children
Nice To Haves
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) units
- Recent experience working with children ages 0–6
Responsibilities
- Step into classrooms as needed to support children and maintain consistency
- Assist with daily routines and classroom activities across mixed-age groups
- Help create a warm, safe, and engaging environment for children
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care
- Model patience, professionalism, and kindness in every interaction
