The Nature Academy is seeking a dedicated and flexible Preschool Substitute Teacher to join our team in Little Rock, AR. This part-time, as-needed position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about nature-based education and are available to work on short notice when full-time teachers require time off. The Substitute Teacher will play a crucial role in delivering a pre-established curriculum designed for infants and young children aged 0-5 in an outdoor learning environment. This position involves engaging children in hands-on, nature-based activities that foster exploration, discovery, and a deep connection to the natural world. The ideal candidate will help nurture children's curiosity, support their development, and instill a love for nature through various educational experiences. In this role, the Substitute Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing lessons and activities that align with the school's nature-based curriculum. Responsibilities include facilitating environmental education, sensory exploration, and outdoor play, while utilizing natural materials and outdoor spaces to enhance learning experiences. The Substitute Teacher will also support classroom management by supervising and ensuring the safety of children in various outdoor settings, establishing clear rules and expectations for behavior, and promoting positive social interactions among children. Additionally, the Substitute Teacher will assist in the care and supervision of infants, including feeding, diapering, and ensuring their overall well-being. Communication with parents about their child's daily activities and progress is essential, as is participation in community events and field trips.
