As a Preschool Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement of classroom instructional plans for preschool students in the Neil Hellman Preschool. You will also support students' success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Preschool Supervising Teacher and you will work onsite. Responsibilities: Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students. Develop and implement a classroom instructional plan based on a student's IEP and Creative Curriculum Objectives for Development and Learning, creating lessons that are differentiated as to meet the needs of all students. Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for students in their classroom. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CPSE meetings as scheduled. Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities. Develop and coordinate the implementation of individual and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; reteach students appropriate behavior strategies. Manage, coordinate and model the implementation of Pyramid Model principles and practices in the classroom to build social and emotional competence and to support children through nurturing and responsive relationships and a high-quality environment. Coordinate the safety and well- being of students through the use of established classroom and schoolwide processes and procedures; supervise classroom staff in implementing these with their work with students throughout the building. Follow school and agency procedures and policies for reporting incidents. This includes behavior incident reports (BIR) and incidents such as child/sexual abuse, substance abuse, harassment, bullying, and violence. Establish relationships with parents and family members to create a partnership around student treatment, student behavior, and academic progress. Schedule, supervise, and monitor teacher assistants as they assist students in various non-instructional environments (e.g. bus loading/unloading, playground, classroom, washroom, field trips, transportation) Lead and attend classroom team meetings, and behavior/treatment meetings and professional training and development sessions or needed (e.g. Pyramid, CPR, emergency procedures and other agency requirements.) Provide leadership to assigned teacher aides and assistants in the various clerical and non-instructional duties or needed for your classroom. Work with other teachers, clinicians, administrators, medical staff and other school staff to provide integrated support, assistance, and treatment to students.
