About The Position

The Preschool Paraprofessional in Integrated Classroom is responsible for supervising students at all times, ensuring their safety as indicated on the Individualized Education Program (IEP). The role involves providing discrete trial instruction to identified students and maintaining accurate skill acquisition data. The paraprofessional will monitor student behavior according to the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and collect data for progress monitoring. Additionally, the position requires direct teaching of daily living skills, including eating, drinking, dressing, bathroom, and hygiene skills. The use of Applied Behavior Analysis teaching principles is essential throughout the school day when working with students. The paraprofessional will also provide instructional support as necessary and utilize therapeutic and self-regulatory principles to support the needs of all students. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team are crucial for this role.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma/GED; Associate Degree or higher preferred
  • Experience working with students with social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Responsibilities

  • Supervises student(s) at all times, as indicated on the IEP, to ensure the safety of the student(s), peers, and adults
  • Provides discrete trial instruction to identified students and maintains accurate skill acquisition data
  • Monitors student behavior as indicated on the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and collects data for progress monitoring
  • Directly teaches daily living skills, including eating, drinking, dressing, bathroom, and hygiene skills
  • Utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis teaching principles throughout the school day when working with students
  • Provides program instruction as deemed necessary and facilitates accurate skill acquisition under the guidance of the classroom teacher
  • Utilizes therapeutic and self-regulatory principles to support the needs of all students
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and collaborates as part of a multi-disciplinary team
