About The Position

The position involves providing quality medical treatment and training as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that medical care services are delivered according to Medicaid and Child Care licensing standards, in alignment with the nurse practice act. The role includes caring for children, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and ensuring compliance with medical regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed nurse (LPN or RN) in the state of Arkansas; Registered nurse preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Moderate work process, database, and spreadsheet skills required.
  • Basic Internet and email skills.
  • CPR Certification and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Collect admission data to determine nursing care needs.
  • Provide nursing care to children.
  • Contact parents and other medical providers regarding the medical care and/or condition of the child as necessary.
  • Develop and implement a nursing care plan, document nursing services provided, and bill for nursing services for children with complex medical needs.
  • Assist ventilator-dependent beneficiaries and perform tracheostomy care.
  • Administer feeding tube care and catheterizations.
  • Monitor vital statistics and administer medications as prescribed.
  • Ensure current action plans are in place for children with allergies, seizures, or asthma.
  • Train preschool staff on medical topics and document training.
  • Delegate nursing tasks within the scope of nursing license and monitor adherence to policies.
  • Follow emergency procedures and ensure emergency medical equipment is available.
  • Prepare and maintain medical files for each child, including immunization history.
  • Request authorization for nursing services and maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Attend required training and organize workload to ensure completion.
  • Identify medical needs of new children prior to enrollment.
  • Participate in team meetings for enrollment and treatment plan development.
  • Assist in audits or investigations by regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate with parents and team members regarding medical care.
