About The Position

The school seeks an outstanding educator who works with students, teachers, administration, and parents in grades PreK through Fourth Grade to promote and support excellence in mathematics instruction in Preschool and Lower School. This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Requirements

  • Possess a B.S. or B.A. related to math instruction and/or Early Childhood or Elementary Education
  • Manifest an earnest, active, and ongoing commitment to increasing her/his cultural competency and to valuing and respecting the myriad cultural differences among members of the Greenhill Community and beyond
  • Demonstrate competency with student-centered technology, an interest in advancing and supporting its use to enhance student learning
  • Possess experience in decision making with divisional curriculum planning and coordination
  • Possess the knowledge and experience needed to design developmentally appropriate lessons for students in Preschool and Lower School
  • Possess the knowledge and experience teaching and assessing appropriate levels of mathematical competencies for students in PreK – 4th grade
  • Collaborate with members of the Preschool and Lower School faculty to discuss and share recent research and national standards that have proven to lead to effective learning
  • Have at least 3-5 years of prior teaching experience with elementary or early childhood students
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (both writing and speaking) and a relentless work ethic.
  • Have a desire to be part of a community that values difference and actively engages with it.
  • Show a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (e.g., familiarity with concepts; evidence of relevant personal growth; examples of relevant practice, etc.).
  • Be a motivated collaborator, possess a strong work ethic, and have a positive spirit.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of Bridges Math program is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Support Teaching push-in instruction in all grades to deliver math challenge and enrichment within the classroom setting;
  • Designing and implementing targeted interventions and enrichment opportunities aligned with the curriculum;
  • Collaborating with homeroom teachers to co-plan, co-teach, and differentiate math instruction;
  • Student Support and Assessment Partnering with the Learning Assistance Team to set goals, plan assessments, and work towards student success;
  • Providing support through direct instruction in individual and small groups;
  • Monitoring and assessing student progress using formal and informal assessment tools; using data to inform instruction and intervention strategies;
  • Conducting observations, analyzing student work, and conducting a year universal screening to identify student strengths and needs on a trimester schedule;
  • Organizing and facilitating data meetings to analyze student progress;
  • Participating in Student Support Team meetings and contributing to collaborative problem-solving;
  • Teacher Collaboration and Coaching Serving as an instructional coach and content expert in mathematics;
  • Organizing and facilitating monthly collaborative math meetings for grade-level teams;
  • Partnering with teachers to develop lessons, classroom projects, and differentiated strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners;
  • Modeling effective teaching practices and facilitating professional learning on best practices in math instruction, including inquiry-based and project-based learning;
  • Co-teaching and Co-planning to provide feedback and resources to improve instructional planning and classroom implementation of the math curriculum;
  • Curriculum Development Developing and managing the ongoing development and alignment of the Preschool and Lower School math curriculum;
  • Researching, co-teaching, and co-planning with classroom teachers to incorporate innovative instructional approaches and enrichment into the classroom;
  • Helping ensure math instruction fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence in student learning;
  • Family and Community Engagement Serving as a resource and partner to parents by providing updates on student progress and participating in conferences, curriculum nights, and parent education events;
  • School-Wide Contribution Working closely with the Director of Academics and the Director of Learning Assistance to ensure consistency across divisions of the school;
  • Participating in and leading faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives;
  • Promoting the school’s mission and serving as a thought leader in progressive, inclusive, and high-quality mathematics education.
  • Participate in Preschool and Lower School duties.
