About The Position

The Preschool Guest (Substitute) Teacher/Instructional Assistant position is compensated on an hourly basis, with a maximum of 8 hours per day. The Preschool Guest Teacher earns $18.12 per hour and covers preschool classrooms, while the Preschool Guest Instructional Assistant earns $16.25 per hour and supports preschool teachers. Positions are available for Marana, Oro Valley, East, and Central Campuses. The role reports to the Classroom Teacher and is under the site supervision of the Director and Assistant Director. The individual will support teachers in instructing scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making, addressing the differentiation of needs and behaviors within one classroom.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 months working in a licensed facility.
  • AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Food Handler's Card.
  • A willingness and desire to learn the Classical model of education.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict resolution with humility and service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with various stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety.
  • Ability to operate office equipment as required.
  • Ability to lift boxes and packages of varying weights.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a preschool or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of classical education principles.
  • Skills in conflict resolution and relationship building.

Responsibilities

  • Support the learning environment established by the classroom teacher and enforce rules and procedures for responsible behavior.
  • Prepare materials and instructional resources for use in the classroom and class activities based on the classical model.
  • Provide instructional support to scholars using various teaching techniques and methods as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Provide supervision to scholars in hallways, during drop off, lunch, and pick-up as directed by the Site Director.
  • Read books to entire classes or small groups.
  • Administer formative assessments and assignments as directed by the classroom teacher and/or site Director.
  • Maintain accurate and complete scholar records as required by the school and laws.
  • Prepare scholars for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities.
  • Support the Teacher’s enforcement of administration policies and rules governing scholars.
  • Instruct and monitor scholars in the use and care of equipment and materials.
  • Attend professional development meetings and training workshops when requested by Administration.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Site Director.
  • Assist in storing and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Maintain confidentiality per FERPA.
  • Maintain licensing compliance.
