About The Position

The Goddard School of Lake Forest is growing, and we are seeking a positive, flexible, qualified, experienced, and nurturing director or Assistant Director to help lead our school community. At our award-winning preschool , we offer a state-of-the-art facility and a STEM-focused curriculum that encourages children to explore, create, and grow at their own pace. Role Overview: As Operations Director or Assistant Director, you’ll work closely with the school’s Owner and management team to ensure smooth daily operations, compliance with California licensing, and a warm, nurturing environment for children, staff, and families. You’ll lead with compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence in early education.

Requirements

  • Must meet California Child Care Licensing Director qualifications (Title 22)
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in early childhood education
  • AA or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with early learning standards and best practices in STEM education
  • EMSA CPR and First Aid certification
  • Warm, professional demeanor with the ability to lead with integrity and heart

Responsibilities

  • Support and oversee the daily operations of the school
  • Ensure compliance with all California Title 22 licensing regulations
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and licensing documentation
  • Conduct safety drills and maintain emergency procedures
  • Manage school inventory, supplies, and equipment needs
  • Recruit, onboard, and support teaching staff
  • Create and maintain staff schedules
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture where teachers feel supported and inspired
  • Build strong, positive relationships with families
  • Support enrollment, family tours, and orientations
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with parents
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive school culture
  • Oversee classroom curriculum implementation with a focus on STEM-based learning
  • Assist with lesson plan review and provide classroom support
  • Ensure that classroom environments are safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate
  • Support and monitor teacher planning, portfolio documentation, and classroom management
  • Schedule shared spaces and coordinate schoolwide events and activities
