About The Position

We are seeking a dependable and caring Preschool Cook to prepare nutritious, child-friendly meals for our daycare/preschool community. This role is essential in supporting the health and well-being of young children by ensuring meals are safe, balanced, and prepared in accordance with North Carolina sanitation and childcare regulations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food service, childcare, or institutional cooking preferred
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and food safety practices
  • Familiarity with North Carolina sanitation and childcare regulations (or willingness to learn)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Positive attitude and genuine care for children’s well-being
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Comfortable working in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the entire school in a timely manner
  • Plan and follow approved menus that meet nutritional guidelines for young children
  • Adhere strictly to North Carolina sanitation, food safety, and childcare licensing requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times
  • Monitor food inventory and manage food orders, ensuring adequate supplies are available
  • Properly store food and label items according to safety standards
  • Accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions with care and attention
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support daily schedules and special events
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding kitchen needs and concerns
  • Supervise and document food temperatures and safety logs as required
  • Dish washing, cleaning, and general kitchen upkeep
  • Be flexible in assisting with bathroom breaks or lunch breaks for staff as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all health inspections and licensing visits
