About The Position

The Preschool Classroom Teacher leads early childhood education activities as the children’s classroom teacher. Ensures all aspects of classroom teaching align with the Early Childhood Education ( ECE ) Program coursework and philosophy. Provides information, feedback, and support to practicum students, contributes to parent education program, and collaborates with staff and faculty. This posting is being used to hire 2 positions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the preferred discipline of Child Development, Early Child Development, Human Development plus three years of experience, which includes mentoring, evaluating, lead work or supervising other staff members, and teaching children ages 0 – 5; or an ORO Step 10 with five years’ experience teaching children ages 3 – 5 years old. Experience should include mentoring other teachers.
  • Must have exceptional skills in classroom and behavior management.
  • Requires a solid understanding of child development, theory, practice, and related programs.
  • Must have current computer and database knowledge.
  • Awareness and sensitivity in anti-bias and equitable practices required.
  • Must be able to independently perform duties of the position efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to provide instruction, guidance, and resource support to children and families.
  • Requires the ability to interpret and apply technical rules, regulations, and guidelines related to Oregon Health Sanitation and Department of Child Care Licensing rules.
  • Requires the ability to organize, plan, and prioritize duties to meet schedules and time-lines.
  • Requires the ability to communicate formally and informally with a wide range of contacts both within and outside of the college setting.
  • Requires the ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, empathy, and friendliness in dealing with people under stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
  • Requires a valid Oregon driver’s license, and the ability to pass the Oregon Central Background Registry.
  • Current First Aid/ CPR certification for adult, child, and infant (or acquired within 90 days from date of hire).
  • Current Oregon Food Handler Card (or acquired within 30 days from date of hire).
  • Completion of Safety Set as required by Oregon Child Care rules and regulations.
