Your role as a Bus Driver Under the general supervision of the ELC Director, the Bus Driver plays a crucial role in safeguarding the health, safety, and welfare of children, staff, and volunteers during transportation to and from the center and on field trips. This position requires a commitment to maintaining a clean, well-functioning bus at all times while determining and following safe and efficient routes. The Bus Driver ensures all children are secured in age-appropriate safety restraints and assists in maintaining appropriate child-to-staff ratios on the bus. Additionally, they manage essential transportation records and conduct monthly bus evacuation drills. In case of emergencies, the Bus Driver is responsible for the safe evacuation of children. Serving as a vital link between parents and the Early Learning Center, this role is fundamental in fostering a supportive community for families.

Requirements

  • valid Ohio Driver's License
  • commitment to safety and child welfare
  • current or willingness to obtain certification in First Aid and CPR for all age groups
  • 2-3 years of prior experience working with children
  • demonstrate empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • strong organizational skills are necessary for maintaining transportation records and ensuring that the bus is clean and in proper working condition
  • proficiency in problem-solving
