About The Position

Mt. Vernon Early Learning Academy Mini-Marauders is seeking an Infant/Toddler Teacher who displays a natural ability to nurture and support the growth and development of our youngest learners. The ideal candidate will create a warm, responsive environment where infants and toddlers can explore, develop trust, and build the foundational skills needed for lifelong learning. This teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues and families to provide consistent, developmentally appropriate care and education that meets each child's individual needs.

Requirements

  • CDA, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in and experience working with infants and toddlers.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices for children birth to three.
  • Ability to create a calm, consistent, and emotionally supportive classroom environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and families.
  • Reliable, professional, and flexible with a positive, nurturing attitude.
  • Must be able to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
  • Regularly required to sit on the floor, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift children.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to engage physically with young children during play, caregiving routines, and outdoor activities.
  • Must be able to talk, hear, operate a computer or tablet, and communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that promote physical, social-emotional, cognitive, and language development for infants and toddlers.
  • Create a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and early learning through play and hands-on experiences.
  • Implement evidence-based practices aligned with The Indiana Early Learning Foundations and Paths to Quality.
  • Develop secure and trusting relationships with each child by consistently responding to their needs with warmth, sensitivity, and respect.
  • Support early language development through songs, stories, conversations, and responsive communication.
  • Observe and document children's developmental progress; use observations to adjust teaching and caregiving strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of daily routines, developmental milestones, and parent communication.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that supports learning and exploration.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies to ensure the well-being of children and staff.
  • Communicate daily with families regarding routines, activities, and developmental progress.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, family conferences, and professional development sessions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure continuity of care and smooth classroom transitions.
  • Demonstrate respect, compassion, and cultural responsiveness when working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Establish positive, trusting partnerships with families, encouraging open communication and collaboration.
  • Provide information and resources to support families in promoting learning and development at home.
  • Engage in continuous professional growth and participate in training aligned with early childhood best practices.
  • Support children during meal and rest times, ensuring that routines are calm, consistent, and nurturing.
  • Assist with simple daily housekeeping and sanitation duties to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all information related to children, families, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
