About The Position

Preschool Associate Teachers are expected to create an environment that nurtures the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development of children. This requires providing a warm and loving atmosphere for the children and the parents. The teacher and associate(s) in each classroom should work together as a team throughout the day to help provide the desired environment. This position could work with ages infants – 4 year olds.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree preferred, High School diploma or equivalent required.
Certification in Education, Early Childhood Development, or related field a plus.
Minimum of two years of teaching in a preschool environment preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate with children three to four years of age.
Ability to create a harmonious environment where they work as a team with other teachers and assistants.
Ability to communicate positively with parents, including feedback about the child’s day is a must.
Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Must work well individually and as part of a small team; ability to interact collaboratively with parents, students and administration.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or other similar programs.
Excellent verbal and written skills
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration
Superior time management skills and the ability to consistently meet deadlines and be flexible
Employee should be comfortable with prolonged sitting and standing.
Employee should be able to lift and hold up to 50 lbs.
Employee should be able to squat to a child’s height and maintain eye contact at a child’s level.
Employee should be able to bend and reach from floor to waist several times throughout the day.
Employee should be able to do lifting and walking as needed.
Employee should be able to go outside with the children, perform carpool in various types of weather (heat, cold and rain).
The employee is continuously involved with supervising and interacting with students including, but not limited to, transitioning from location to location, drop off and pickup responsibilities, and lunch.

Nice To Haves

Certification in Education, Early Childhood Development, or related field a plus.
Minimum of two years of teaching in a preschool environment preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Responsibilities

Assist the lead teacher with implementing weekly lesson plans that help promote children’s development, literacy and early education.
Lead individual children, small groups, and large groups in educational instruction.
Attend chapel weekly with class.
Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.
Assist in creating documents that support the lead in reviewing with faculty the progress of each child and in developing written plans to promote each child’s growth and development.
Act as a leading figure in the classroom establishing a positive relationship with the Lead Teachers and Parents.
Work with Lead Teachers to plan and implement daily program in accordance with the lesson plan.
Communicate, as directed by lead, with parents about behavioral ups and downs.
Assist in providing weekly update with parents, responding to emails in a timely manner, and updating the class Shutterfly account with pictures.
Set up and maintain a well-organized and safe classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
Assist with the evaluation of children and preparation of progress reports as required during the school year.
Participate in parent- teacher conferences with Lead Teacher and assist in documenting outcomes and plan of action.
Oversee children’s care and safety during their time spent in the school facilities.
Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests and needs to facilitate learning and growth.
Maintain a respectful environment with children, parents and staff at school at all times.
Supervise and engage with children on playground areas.
Follow cleaning and sanitation procedures.
Administer first aid (Band-Aid, ice packs, etc.) and document accidents
Attend certain school functions as required by the administration (ie. Open House, staff meetings, trainings, etc.)
Support the school with words and actions on and off campus.
Maintain confidentiality in school matters and in regard to students, their families, and coworkers.
Demonstrate patience when interacting with children, parents, and coworkers.
Understand a preschooler’s social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual developmental needs.
Must maintain confidentiality of student and school matters.
Model professional and ethical standards and practices consistent with school policies when dealing with students, parents, peers in both speech and actions.
Be evaluated throughout the year through informal and formal classroom observation.
Participate in training and professional development; goal setting with supervisor
Showing support and high esteem for School at all times.
Attending and participating in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.
Complying with conditions as stated in employee agreement and handbook.
