About The Position

Join a team dedicated to every student’s success. As the Preschool and Primary School Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the social-emotional well-being of our students. Working closely with classroom teachers, you will help develop programming supporting student growth and parent education, meet with students in small groups, and foster a safe, nurturing environment where every child feels encouraged to learn and thrive. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling or social work
  • At least 4 years of experience as a counselor or social worker working with children and teens with a wide range of abilities
  • Maryland licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Counselor, Social Worker, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Experience and willingness to work collaboratively with administrators, faculty members, and parents
  • Ability to interpret psychological assessments and educational assessments
  • Experience facilitating developmentally appropriate counseling groups with school age children
  • Evidence of knowledge about learning differences and neurodivergent conditions
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion and have experience working with a diverse student population
  • Genuine enthusiasm, personal warmth, and high energy level
  • Embrace the mission and values of Holy Trinity and the Episcopal Church
  • Proven ability to work effectively with others in a multi-cultural environment

  • Experience working in an independent school setting
  • Previous relevant experience in an educational setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide short-term, evidence-based individual counseling to students as needed.
  • Create and facilitate developmentally appropriate groups
  • Serve as a resource and consultant on mental health for the school community.
  • Collaborate with families and school administrators to develop plans of support for students in need and connect to community resources.
  • Participate effectively in meetings and conferences.
  • Cultivate a positive relationship with parents and community providers.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver relevant training opportunities to students, parents, and staff.
  • Participates in team meetings to support students with documented learning plans.
  • Respond to and support students in crisis situations
