The Presales Engineer plays a key role in shaping the right technology solutions for our clients. In this client-facing role, you will partner closely with Account Managers to understand business needs, uncover technical requirements, and design solutions that fit both. You will lead discovery conversations, translate requirements into recommended architectures, and ensure a smooth handoff into delivery. Work within Ardham’s Presales Pod model to craft well-designed, feasible solutions partnering with the Account Manager, Implementation Engineer, and Project Manager to ensure clarity and alignment. Requirements

  • 3+ years in a Presales, Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or related customer-facing technical role.
  • Background in IT consulting, Managed Services, or Value-Added Reseller (VAR) environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting solution recommendations across core IT infrastructure, cloud, and security.
  • Familiarity with the types of technology Ardham designs and implements, including: Microsoft-based systems (Windows Server, Active Directory), and exposure to virtualization, storage, backup, and cloud.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and considerations when designing client solutions.
  • Ability to speak technically about infrastructure, networking fundamentals, cloud services, and security in a way clients understand without needing to be hands-on keyboard.
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and guide customers toward well-informed decisions.
  • Curious, solution-oriented mindset with a passion for learning and staying current with technology trends.
  • High follow-through, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering a great client experience every time.
  • Candidates must reside in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area or be within reasonable commuting distance to Ardham’s headquarters.
  • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discovery calls and workshops to understand a client’s business goals, current environment, and challenges.
  • Ask the right questions to uncover needs around infrastructure, security, continuity, cloud, and managed services.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into recommended solution approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects of varying complexity and scale, from small tactical efforts to large strategic initiatives.
  • Technical expertise across Networking and Systems Engineering, with the ability to assess, design and recommend integrated solutions.
  • Proven capability to architect end-to-end solutions, lead implementation efforts, and ensure successful project closure with measurable outcomes.
  • Develop solution outlines, architecture recommendations, and supporting documentation used for quoting and SOW creation.
  • Validate solution feasibility and scope with Implementation Engineers to ensure accurate levels of effort and realistic timelines.
  • Clearly articulate why a solution is the right fit, balancing technical requirements, budget, business outcomes, and long-term scalability.
  • Join Account Managers in client meetings to provide technical context, present solutions, and answer detailed questions.
  • Confidently explain the value, trade-offs, and business impact of proposed solutions in a way that resonates with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support proposal creation and client-facing documentation that helps move opportunities forward.
  • Build trust and credibility with client contacts from IT practitioners to executives.
  • Ensure all technical details, assumptions, scope elements, and risks are documented clearly for the project kickoff.
  • Smoothly transition scope and knowledge to Project Managers and Implementation Engineers for delivery success.
  • Maintain visibility into solution adoption and client experience for continuous improvement of presales processes.
