About The Position

The Prepress Tech Manager at Taylor Corporation is responsible for overseeing prepress operations, ensuring quality and efficiency in the production of print-ready artwork for large format printing. This role involves supervising personnel, managing workflow, providing technical expertise, and implementing automation techniques to meet production objectives. The manager will also engage in continuous improvement initiatives and support team development through feedback and coaching.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of related prepress experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to drive change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and understand color theory for large format printing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Adobe software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing pre-press automation using various software.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Graphics Communication or equivalent advanced degree in Print Production preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise personnel performing prepress operations including order processing, graphic arts, and creation of print-ready artwork.
  • Lead and allocate work to personnel, monitoring and evaluating their work for quality and adherence to KPIs.
  • Prioritize and manage workflow to meet or exceed production and quality objectives using pre-press automation techniques.
  • Provide technical expertise and training in various prepress software applications such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Oversee prepress automation using Production Job Management software (PJM).
  • Assist team members with requests from external and internal customers while adhering to deadlines.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and coordinate on escalated customer issues and rework.
  • Provide performance feedback, coaching, and documentation to support corrective actions.
  • Direct and participate in process improvement events using tools like 5S and lean manufacturing techniques.
