About The Position

The Prepress Platemaking Specialist is responsible for producing high-quality flexographic printing plates that meet exact specifications for production. This role requires operating specialized imaging, exposure, and processing equipment while ensuring consistent quality, accuracy, and readiness for press. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 lbs frequently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, twist, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, safety rules, SOPs, and job documentation.
  • Basic math ability, including measurement and ruler usage.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in flexographic printing, prepress, or platemaking.
  • Familiarity with Esko workflows, flexographic imaging systems, or exposure/processing equipment.
  • Experience in printing, packaging, or manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Verify job tickets and color/plate requirements prior to starting any job.
  • Produce flexographic printing plates using imaging units, exposure systems, processors, and other prepress equipment.
  • Inspect plates during and after production to identify defects or inconsistencies and report issues promptly.
  • Deliver completed plates and documentation to the production area.
  • Perform daily maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of platemaking equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Follow all safety policies, SOPs, and PPE requirements throughout the facility.
  • Trim, prepare, and organize printed press proofs for internal review or customer presentation.
  • Organize and prep jobs for production in advance to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with Prepress, Quality, and Production teams to troubleshoot plate or imaging issues.
