About The Position

Mittera is looking for a night shift Prepress Platemaker to join our growing team! The Platemaker is responsible for overseeing the plate-making process, including but not limited to, creating plates, troubleshooting issues, inspecting for quality, and working with various departments to support the printing process.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work day-shifts during training, then night-shifts after training period
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1 – 3 years of related experience in prepress operations and plate output
  • Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
  • Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to use basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements and critical thinking, to solve practical problems
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlines
  • Be organized and able to plan, prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervision
  • Has basic computer skills
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable, and quality, safety oriented

Responsibilities

  • Enter, store, and retrieve information on computer-aided equipment
  • Operate and maintain plate-making equipment that converts electronic data to plates without the use of film
  • Examine finished plates to detect flaws and verify conformity with master plates and measure dot sizes and centers
  • Maintain, adjust, and clean equipment, and perform minor repairs
  • Mix solutions such as developing solutions and colored coating solutions
  • Select proper types of plates according to press run lengths
  • Analyze originals to evaluate color density, gradation highlights, middle tones, and shadows, using densitometers and knowledge of light and color
  • Create plates per plate requests for start-ups and remakes while meeting deadlines
  • Responsible for the imaging accuracy of all plates produced on plate setter
  • Notify Production and Scheduling departments of possible scheduling conflicts
  • Perform equipment calibration per SOP and working instructions
  • Complete and record accurate written records and electronic data collection
