About The Position

Mittera is looking for a night shift Prepress Platemaker to join our growing team! The Platemaker is responsible for overseeing the plate-making process, including but not limited to, creating plates, troubleshooting issues, inspecting for quality, and working with various departments to support the printing process.

Requirements

Must be able to work day-shifts during training, then night-shifts after training period
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
1 – 3 years of related experience in prepress operations and plate output
Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization
Ability to use basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements and critical thinking, to solve practical problems
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Must have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlines
Be organized and able to plan, prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervision
Has basic computer skills
Must be self-motivated, reliable, and quality, safety oriented

Responsibilities

Enter, store, and retrieve information on computer-aided equipment
Operate and maintain plate-making equipment that converts electronic data to plates without the use of film
Examine finished plates to detect flaws and verify conformity with master plates and measure dot sizes and centers
Maintain, adjust, and clean equipment, and perform minor repairs
Mix solutions such as developing solutions and colored coating solutions
Select proper types of plates according to press run lengths
Analyze originals to evaluate color density, gradation highlights, middle tones, and shadows, using densitometers and knowledge of light and color
Create plates per plate requests for start-ups and remakes while meeting deadlines
Responsible for the imaging accuracy of all plates produced on plate setter
Notify Production and Scheduling departments of possible scheduling conflicts
Perform equipment calibration per SOP and working instructions
Complete and record accurate written records and electronic data collection
