About The Position

The Prepress Operator plays a key role in keeping digital, litho, and web print jobs on schedule by collaborating with production teams throughout the workflow. This role prepares client files for print, including plate setup for offset presses, and coordinates with other Prepress Operators to share technical knowledge, troubleshoot issues, and stay current with evolving Prepress software and technologies. The Prepress Operator ensures the final product meets or exceeds customer expectations. Requirements

  • Experience with prepress applications: Adobe Creative Cloud, Pitstop, Imposition software
  • Experience with image manipulation, color correction, and file prep
  • Understanding of remote/virtual proofing.
  • General experience and knowledge of modern commercial offset and digital prepress and printing processes.
  • Experience with color profiling and device calibration (G7) and/or Prinergy is a plus.
  • May be required to complete and pass Public Trust Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the prepress workflow and how it relates to the overall production and business workflow.
  • Understand and thoroughly read the electronic M.I.S. ticket information, P.O.D. ticket information, and RPD transactional print software (if applicable), making sound decisions based on job specifications.
  • Decipher information on job tickets into production.
  • Prepare files using Adobe Creative Cloud apps, Pitstop, and Imposition software.
  • Prepare files for digital and litho printing, web to print, and future variable data printing (VDP) workflows.
  • Prepare and post PDF files for remote/virtual proofing.
  • Communicate concerns and challenges as they arise with Project Managers and Sales teams.
  • Apply needed corrections, including technical requirements and requested edits.
  • Troubleshoot digital information and files as needed.
  • Apply color profiling and device calibration (G7).
  • Complete QC proofs and final prints.
  • Follow and adhere to HIPAA and FSC guidelines.
  • Maintain a high level of accurate and quality-assured work.
