The Prepress Operator has the primary responsibility to create and configure final print-ready files for large-scale digital printing manufacturing. The Prepress Operator is the final expert to create accurate files and proofs during manufacturing preparation. This role keeps an acute eye on the final measurements, dimensions, quality and accuracy of art files to ensure they are production ready. You are already familiar with prepress and industry-standard printing practices. You know the difference between a vector and raster, and you can spot image resolution issues in a heartbeat. Balancing rush jobs with your normal workflow is a breeze and you look for new ways to continuously improve the process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; educational focus in science, technology, engineering, arts or math (STEAM) subjects such as fine art, graphic design, mechanical/industrial manufacturing, math
  • 3+ years of experience in digital printing, graphic production, prepress operations
  • 3+ years using Adobe Illustrator
  • Printing industry experience
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes and protocols
  • Advanced knowledge of the technical side of Adobe Illustrator such as job setup, scaling images and layout
  • Basic Adobe Photoshop knowledge
  • Computer proficiency
  • Great organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain a close eye on weekly, monthly, quarterly productivity metrics and to adjust work as needed to meet goals
  • A mindset for solution-focused problem-solving using data-driven approaches
  • Track record of contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate effective communication techniques with internal staff and customers
  • Able to juggle multiple projects and demands in a high-paced, deadline-oriented environment

  • Demonstrate flexibility to learn other duties and positions within the organization
  • Duties require standing (except breaks and lunch) throughout working shift for 8 to 12 hours
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment (e.g., keyboard, mouse, phone)
  • Able to lift 10 lbs. continuously and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 lbs.
  • Able to lift up to and above 50 lbs. with machine assistance
  • Frequent walking, grasping, gripping, and fine hand manipulation
  • Visual acuity at short distances - able to detect variances in orders and cut marks
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, bending and overhead reaching

Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge of StickerGiant core processes and requirements through job shadowing and cross-functional training
  • Create and process final production-ready layouts with customer artwork
  • Update and revise electronic files to ensure production requirements are met
  • Ensure fluid communication on individual jobs across multiple departments including customer success, art, and manufacturing
  • Maintain a commitment to good communication between employees across all departments
  • Observe and communicate ideas and solutions for continuous improvement
  • Commit to manufacturing workflow schedule and meet the demands of rush orders when needed
  • Detect and adjust color issues
  • Monitor manufacturing schedule
  • Perform final Quality Assurance step on all artwork before transfer to the production team
  • Other duties as assigned
