About The Position

The Prep Lead performs advanced cutting and forming operations while assisting the Supervisor in coordinating daily production activities. This role supports workflow, provides technical guidance to team members, and helps ensure production, safety, and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Operate single-head and multi-head torches, plasma torches, hand torches, secators, saws, and power brake presses to cut and form steel parts to specified dimensions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, routing sheets, and work instructions to accurately cut, form, label, and route parts.
• Remove slag and excess material from cut parts using chipping tools and hand equipment.
• Test machine operations and verify proper equipment setup.
• Move materials and finished components using overhead cranes and hoists.
• Safely guide and control suspended loads while operating lifting equipment.
• Label and number parts accurately according to company numbering systems.
• Maintain compliance with all quality standards and customer specifications.
• Follow tool checkout and equipment accountability procedures.
• Perform all production duties while serving as a working lead for a designated group of employees.
• Obtain daily production objectives from the Supervisor and assist in coordinating shift activities.
• Support workflow planning and assist with assigning tasks as directed by the Supervisor.
• Monitor production output and assist in resolving workflow, material, equipment, or design issues.
• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to new and existing employees.
• Facilitate interpretation of prints, procedures, and company policies.
• Assist with completion of required documentation, including production reports, maintenance requests, material tickets, and timekeeping updates.
• Ensure continuation of production activities in the absence of the Supervisor.
• Comply with all safety policies and proactively correct or report hazards.
• Promote safe work practices and provide safety guidance to team members.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize fire, tripping, and other safety hazards.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times.
