Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • 1 year of prep cook experience in a fast-paced, high-end or hotel restaurant
  • Knowledge of all cooking and preparation equipment
  • Basic knife skills
  • Ability to stand and move at a fast pace for long periods of time
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule is required
  • High school or equivalent education preferred
  • Food Handler Certificate
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP preferred)
  • Understanding of kitchen operations and mise en place procedures
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion control guidelines accurately
  • Knowledge of proper food storage and FIFO system
  • Knife skills and safe food handling techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Teamwork and communication skills in a kitchen setting
  • Time management and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Basic understanding of cooking methods and kitchen equipment

Responsibilities

  • Wash, peel, cut, and portion fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients
  • Prepare sauces, dressings, marinades, and basic recipe components
  • Measure and organize ingredients for cooking stations
  • Assist line cooks by keeping stations stocked and organized during service
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all food preparation areas
  • Follow proper food handling, storage, and safety procedures
  • Label, date, and store food items correctly following FIFO guidelines
  • Support basic cooking tasks as needed under supervision
  • Assist with inventory control and report low-stock items
  • Work closely with the kitchen team and follow instructions from chefs and supervisors
  • Help with kitchen closing duties and general cleanup
  • All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by leadership
