Pomperaug Woods is recruiting for a hospitality focused Cook I to join our team! This position is responsible for full-scope, hands on production cooking in the Community Culinary Services Department. Is responsible for maintaining a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 6 months restaurant/senior living or equivalent cooking experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
  • Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assists production staff with preparation of ingredients for entrees.
  • Assists production in the preparation and service of various foods in assigned work situations including pantry items, soups, sauces, poultry and fish items.
  • Assists cooks in the preparation of basic dessert items as well as breakfast items for residents and patients.
  • Performs daily cleaning and sanitation tasks
