About The Position

The Prep Cook, under the supervision of the Chef De Cuisine, is responsible for preparing fresh, ready-to-serve café items for the Cayuse Kapi venue. This role focuses on building grab-and-go sandwiches, baking cookies and pastries, preparing fruit cups, yogurt parfaits, and other light café offerings. The Prep Cook ensures all items are prepared to brand standards, food safety requirements, and quality expectations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least one year of food preparation experience; café, coffee shop, deli, or quick service experience preferred.
  • Experience performing efficiently while handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Willing and available to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
  • Food handlers certification, or the ability to obtain upon hire
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment
  • Follow recipes, production sheets, and prep schedules
  • Multitask and prioritize work effectively
  • Take direction and work independently when needed
  • Communicate clearly with team members and leadership
  • Maintain attention to detail and food quality standards
  • Demonstrate good judgment and reliability

Responsibilities

  • Promote and support a culture of excellence at Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino by modeling STRC values, delivering exceptional guest service, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics.
  • Provide exceptional guest service throughout all interactions.
  • Prepare grab-and-go sandwiches, wraps, and breakfast items in batches
  • Bake off cookies, pastries, and other café bakery items
  • Prepare fruit cups, yogurt parfaits, and cold snack items
  • Portion, label, date, and store all prepared items properly
  • Follow standardized recipes and production guidelines
  • Maintain consistent quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Receive and properly store food and supply deliveries
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary prep workspace at all times
  • Adhere to department policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Provide friendly internal guest service to all team members
  • Proactively identify operational issues, recommend solutions, and follow up appropriately.
  • Demonstrate dependability and reliability by maintaining regular, punctual attendance and consistently fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities.
  • Create, maintain, and facilitate a positive and safe work environment; promote healthy team member relations and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
