About The Position

Prep Cook – Trapper's Sushi (Puyallup, WA – Sunrise Village) Pay: $18.25 per hour (DOE) Trapper's Sushi is looking to grow our team by adding a new Prep Cook at our Sunrise Village location in Puyallup, Washington! As one of the Pacific Northwest's most desired dining establishments, our mission is to learn our customers' names and provide the best service and food possible-leaving our guests with a craving to come back for more. Our Prep Cooks play an essential role in that mission by ensuring our ingredients, stations, and kitchen operations are organized, efficient, and ready to deliver exceptional food every day. Position Overview The Prep Cook assists in the preparation of all menu items in the kitchen. This position performs routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations, measuring ingredients, and prepping recipes to ensure smooth service and consistent quality. Prep Cooks help create the foundation for a great dining experience by keeping the kitchen organized, clean, and well-stocked.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a prep cook or in a similar kitchen role.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen best practices.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and positive under pressure.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary training a plus.
  • Washington State Food Worker Card required prior to first day of work.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Follow prep lists created by Master Chefs to plan daily duties.
  • Label and stock all ingredients so they're organized and easily accessible.
  • Measure, wash, and chop ingredients according to recipes.
  • Prepare sauces, garnishes, and other items to support the kitchen team.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and removing trash.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored safely and properly labeled.
  • Comply with all food safety, nutrition, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
