About The Position

Deacon's New South in Nashville, TN is hiring PREP COOKS to join our kitchen team. This is a great position to grow into the restaurant industry. We love to cross-train and promote from within. The Prep Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads, and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List. They are responsible for performing minor machine maintenance, setting up ingredients in preparation for production, and assigning the overall production of food when needed. They must also perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates

Requirements

• Must pass the federally mandated E-verify process
• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a professional restaurant kitchen
• Must have an understanding of proper use and maintenance of major kitchen equipment.
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel and guests
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
• Able to conduct yourself in a positive and professional manner under all circumstances, including in a high paced environment
• Baking experience required
