About The Position

As a Prep Cook at Embark Independence , you’ll play a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming environment where quality meals and meaningful connections go hand in hand. You’ll support our culinary team in preparing fresh, nutritious food that not only nourishes our students and staff but also brings a sense of comfort and care to each day. Each shift, you’ll assist our cooks with meal prep, keep the kitchen clean and organized, and help ensure smooth, nourishing mealtimes. Your work will support the physical and emotional well-being of our students—helping make Embark feel like home. By embodying our core values, you’ll help create a safe, therapeutic environment where healing begins with a warm meal and a familiar face.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of cooking experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and portion meals alongside the Chef to support both students and staff
  • Assist with prepping ingredients and meals in advance for weekends, keeping things smooth and stress-free for the team.
  • Take pride in keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and safe, including dishwashing, sanitizing surfaces, and managing waste, because great meals start with a great space.
  • Bring a positive attitude to the kitchen and dining area, helping students feel comfortable and cared for with every meal served.
  • Step in for additional hours as needed, especially during busy mornings or when others are out, to help keep things running smoothly.
