Requirements

  • A High School Diploma and experience in culinary arts or food service.
  • Knowledge of volume food preparation.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate food service equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation & Quality Prepare ingredients for daily meals, including chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and portioning proteins.
  • Follow standardized recipes and dietary guidelines that support resident health, special diets, and culinary satisfaction.
  • Assist in the preparation of soups, sauces, baked goods, salads, and other menu items as assigned.
  • Maintain the high culinary standards of Juniper’s H’art & Soul of Dining program — emphasizing scratch cooking, fresh flavors, beautiful presentation, and hospitality.
  • Kitchen Operations Properly label, store, and rotate food using FIFO standards to ensure freshness and safety.
  • Keep prep areas clean, sanitized, and organized in accordance with state, local, and Juniper standards.
  • Assist the Cook or Chef with cooking tasks during peak periods.
  • Set up and break down workstations efficiently.
  • Safety & Compliance Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols.
  • Adhere to dietary restrictions and physician-ordered meal modifications for residents.
  • Maintain compliance with Juniper’s Green Canopy sustainability practices when handling supplies and waste.
  • Teamwork & Culture Support a warm, resident-centered environment by engaging kindly with residents and team members.
  • Communicate effectively with the culinary team to ensure smooth service.
  • Participate in ongoing training
