This is a seasonal role on Mackinac Island, beginning in early April and continuing through October. Housing and meals in our onsite cafeteria available at $19.50/day. Prep Cook will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware; storing food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage; preparing a variety of foods, such as meats, vegetables, desserts, according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures; taking and recording temperature of food and food storage areas such as refrigerators and freezers; washing, peeling, and cutting various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving; placing food trays over food warmers for immediate service, or storing them in refrigerated storage cabinets; portioning and wrapping the food, or placing it directly on plates for service to patrons; weighing or measuring ingredients; mixing ingredients for green salads, molded fruit salads, vegetable salads, and pasta salads; and receiving and storing food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.

Requirements

  • Three (3) months of culinary experience in a fine-dining or high-volume environment at a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club required.
