About The Position

Reporting to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, the Prep Cook assists the Cook by preparing ingredients, keeping the kitchen clean and orderly, and by performing some of the simpler cooking functions as assigned according to the menu. The Prep Cook respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues and staff. This is a safety sensitive position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS It is understood that every incidental duty connected with operations listed in the job description is not always specifically described, and that employees, at the discretion of management, may be required to perform duties not within their job descriptions. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Food Safety certified preferred
  • Strong sanitation habits
  • Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist residents and coworkers
  • Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and cooks food items according to recipes, daily menus and supervisor’s instructions.
  • Takes temperatures at regular intervals and maintains foods in sufficient quantities while minimizing over-produced waste.
  • Ensures proper presentation of all food items.
  • Assists in maintaining kitchen sanitation and equipment cleaning schedule.
  • Assists with receiving stock and keeping store rooms, refrigerators and freezers clean and organized.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
