About The Position

The Prep Cook at Chicago Botanic Garden is responsible for preparing food and serving customers while adhering to health and safety regulations. This role involves following recipes, maintaining food quality, and ensuring a positive customer experience in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef.
• Prepare items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes.
• Complete and follow daily production worksheets and waste log sheets.
• Taste completed meals to ensure quality.
• Operate and clean equipment per department procedures after each use.
• Store, label, and date all food items according to policy.
• Follow HACCP guidelines to ensure quality and safety of food supply.
• Complete all required documentation, reports, and logs as required.
• Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
• Take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation time.
• Serve customers in an efficient and friendly manner.
• Complete orders from steam tables and grill and serve customers at multiple stations.
• Use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control.
• Resolve customer concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
